The Galactic Tribe, a 501c-3 organization, fosters intergenerational communities through workshops and programming.
Following the release of Marvel’s Black Panther in 2018, our founders organized workshops, movie discussions, and parties to explore our community’s vision for rich culture and growth. These gatherings
underscored the need for more such events.
Marvel soon released the “Black Panther: The Intergalactic Empire of Wakanda” comic series. It sparked even more conversations about Afrofuturism and African Diasporic culture. Almost a year later, we hosted our first Wakanda Alliance Program. We used both Black Panther and Shuri titles as a way to teach young boys and girls. Parents and guardians stayed to learn alongside their kids. The Tribe started to form as the programs welcomed various artists, activists, teachers, and others. We became The Galactic Tribe. We’ve hosted over 30 workshops, featured guest talents from the U.S., U.K., and Kenya, and now provide employment opportunities encuraging teens to learn our programming methods and get involved within their communities.
Our workshops continue to tackle the topics of
